Lancashire Combined Fire Authority

The Lancashire Combined Fire Authority is an independent body which comprises of 25 elected Members apportioned between 3 Councils on the basis of: 19 Lancashire County Councillors, 3 Blackpool Councillors and 3 Blackburn with Darwen Councillors.

The Authority is responsible for providing an effective and efficient Fire and Rescue Service which provides maximum value for money for Lancashire. The Authority is legally required to enforce fire safety legislation and to reduce the risk of fire causing death, serious injury and property related losses to the community. It must also make provision for rescuing people in the event of road traffic collisions.

Combined Fire Authority Elected Members

Fire Authority Members lead and support the establishment and realisation of the Authority's purpose, objectives, priorities and values. All Members are required to sign an agreement to carry out their role effectively. The Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of the Authority and its Committees make special undertakings in accordance with their additional responsibilities. These responsibilities are set out in a Members' Role.

Combined Fire Authority Members must adhere to a Code of Conduct and supply information to a Register of Financial and Other Interests which is available on the CFA Members page.

Members from each political group attend Committee meetings in line with their political party's share of Authority seats.

The Combined Fire Authority’s meetings are held in-person and members of the press and public are welcome to attend.
